Architecture Security Improvements:
As cyber security threats continue to become more advanced, PaperCut has been conducting a broad security uplift programme. This involves ongoing reviews of internal and external architecture and codes, large scale penetration testing and consultation with specialists in cyber security.
- As a result of this work PaperCut MF 23.0 introduces various improvements including:
- Data encryption between Print Provider and Application Server.
- Hashing of all passwords in the server.properties file.
- New 'urgent message' banner in the MF admin console to enable rapid, targeted direct-to-customer messaging.
- Administrator re-authentication requirement when changing key security settings such as changing an administrators password or creating new administrator accounts.
Modern Authentication:
PaperCut MF 23.0 now supports multi-factor authentication for all admin and user web interfaces when using Azure AD as the identity provider to reduce the risk of security breaches even if a password has been compromised.
Print Enablement for Virtual Desktop Environments:
With VDI now being adopted by organisations of all sizes for multiple reasons such as hybrid worker enablement, reducing costs and increasing application and data security, the Print Deploy client has been enhanced to offer the full print enablement capabilities of PaperCut to the most popular VDI platforms including Citrix, VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop and Microsoft Remote Desktop Server (RDS).
Increased Privacy Protection when using payment gateways:
As changes to the 3D Secure 2 authentication protocol require the collection of personally identifiable information during transactions, in order to offer better protection against fraud, this release introduces changes to the logging detail to ensure that this information is not captured in any log files, regardless of the log level being used.
